Literacy as a big concept.
The literacy word has changed over these recent years
adapting to these new times. The traditional meaning of this word was used in
the schools, and in the educative system, to talk about two skills what were
reading and writing. Furthermore, with globalization were added two more skills
which were speaking and listening.
However, this change of the meaning of the word
literacy did not stop, and it continues developing itself looking to answer to
the needs of our days. Therefore, nowadays the literacy looks for in the
educational system to answer new difficulties, such as the interpretation of
the new visual word, or the research of information through the digital world,
among others.
So, with all the information that I had given you
before, we can talk about the concept of multi-literacy. This multi-literacy
concept is made up of 10 subliteracy types such as:
- Media literacy: is composed of the radio,
television, movies, videogames, newspapers, books, magazines...
-Financial literacy: is formed by all types of
financial knowledge...
-Numeral literacy: is composed of the logic, the
resolution of mathematical problems...
-Creativity literacy: if formed by the original
thinking, the resolution of life problems...
-Digital literacy: is composed of the understanding of
the internet, and the correct use of new digital resources.
-Cultural literacy: is formed by the knowledge of the
nearby social environment, the knowledge of our history...
-Environmental literacy: is composed of the care of
animals and the natural environment...
-Traditional and actual Education literacy: if formed
by four main skills such as speaking, listening, reading, and writing. And also
new ones such as visual literacy, which takes care of the decode and the
interpretation of the pictures.
-Emotional literacy: This literacy looks to know
yourselves and themselves emotions, and nature.
-Social literacy: Is formed by the communication
skills
