MUSIC IN SCHOOL

Hello everyone! Today I will be talking about how music influences in today's schools. Happy reading!

Music has always been with us, and it is a crucial member of the environment around us. However, how is music integrated in schools?

As we may know, music has its own subject in Primary schools. In that subject, children learn how music influences in our environment, how it works, and how is it produced. Teachers must know that music also makes an impact in the students's grades, social skills, and creativity.

And how children learn music? First of all, music stimulates students's brains via the combined use of sounds and lyrics. Students are then able to catch the sounds and understand the lyrics. Even the lyrics are useful for learning vocabulary skills and other languages (L2).

Music can also produce different feelings in students. For example, if they are happy, they will react more easily with enjoyable music than if they are sad or angry. And viceversa: if they are sad or angry, they will relate more with unhappy music.

For instance, music is a great tool for teachers. If used correctly, it can contribute in classroom to motivate students depending on the context they are in. For example, if they are reading or doing exercises individually, relaxing music can contribute on their concentration capabilities. And in the music subject, it can contribute too on their feelings, like I said before.

What do you think? Do you think music should be used more regularly by teachers in order to develop their students's feelings and concentration capabilities in classroom?
