Today, I'm going to do a brief film review about a film I watched yesterday. The film was Dune, a science-fiction film, with some sparks of drama and fantasy. This movie looks like another I saw in my childhood called Star Wars, although, this Dune film is completely different.
This film is based on the novel called Dune, which was released in 1965 by Frank Hebert. It has also an older version released in 1984 related with the boom of science fiction films, such as the Planet of the Apes, Blade Runner, or the one I talked previously, Star Wars.
Watching this film in the big screen was a great experience, because of the landscapes and the cinematography it showed, the plot, the soundtrack, and also the special effects. This remarkable experience was expected, because of the experimented people who worked in this film project. People with a lot of experience in making successful films, such as Hark Zimmer in the audio area, and Denis Villeneuve in the video area. All of these helped this film to reach the category of blockbuster.
The plot of the film at the beginning is confused. Because it gives us a lot of information, which make us very difficult to follow the plot correctly, and sometimes, if we are not concentrate enough, we can get lost very easily.
However, the tale is incredible. It tells us a history of a desert planet, which has a lot of spices that have a lot of economic value. To not share with you any spoiler, I will tell you what are the main events you must know to have a basic idea of the film.
The main planet is called Arrakis, and it's controlled and defended by a loyal family called Atreides, who has some “force” powers, like in the Star Wars films. This loyal house expand his democratic thinking all over the universe, however not all rest of the royal families think the same. So they start a politic conflict between them to see what royal family gets the control of the planet.
In my opinion, everyone should have the opportunity to watch this film, because it has a lot of different film genders, and you will have a lot of chances to get on well with this film. Also, the main characters are interpreted for some of the most popular actors in the world of films, so if you are fan of one of them you will for sure love it.
