In this post, I'm going to analyse the news from the Times, and the news from the Telegraph. Both newspapers posted the same news about the critical situation of migrants who are crossing the Channel. But, theirs news are not written in the same way, so what we are going to do is to distinguish the main differences between them.
The headlines between the Telegraph, and the Times newspapers are written differently. However, they are communicating the same message, which is the problem of the migrants crossing the Channel.
On one hand, the Times headline, it is focused on the country of France, and his no responsibility stopping migrants. On the other hand, the Telegraph newspaper focused his message on Boris Johnson, and his accusation about France slackness stopping the migrant's crossing.
In the Times newspaper it is written in informal language, like for example “not doing enough”. And the message is communicated in a very polite form. However, in the Telegraph newspaper, the headline is more aggressive. It uses words like “step up”, and “smugglers” which help to intensify the message. This is reinforced with the use of the news about the died of 27 migrants. In conclusion, the Times news is politer than the Telegraph's news, which is much more aggressive.
For me, between these two serious headlines, I would choose the second from the Telegraph's newspaper. I think, that the use which has been given to the words of “step up”, “smugglers”, and also the information of the died people, increase the importance of this real problem, and it gives the importance it deserves. Finally, I find the second news more appealing because, it seems that Boris Johnson is pointing France as the unique responsible for the migrants issues.
